His free time is spent either on his papa’s boat or pretending that he is on the boat. I’m serious, if I have to pretend that I’m a fish who just went for his bait one more time… I’ll probably scream.

I remember when I was little and it used to rain it would just ruin my whole day. I wouldn’t be able to get out and play in the neighborhood or ride my bike. It was a total bummer.

I’m assuming that most little kids hate it when it rains outside. But Jakob is not most kids. He absolutely loves it when it rains because it means that the driveway will flood over with puddles and he can once again “float his boat”. Jakob’s “boat” is a plastic storage bin which he not only launches into the puddles but sits inside of and fishes out of.

Jakob’s schedule on a rainy day

check the weather channel to see how much rain we are getting

continually check the water level of the driveway puddles by looking out the window

complain that there isn’t enough rain on the ground yet

jump up and down with excitement once he sees that the puddles are ready for boating

get his boating attire on which usually consists of something like pajama bottoms, a baseball hat, a raincoat with no shirt on underneath and most importantly his boating boots (winter boots worn year round)

Tow his boat to the launch site

Launch his boat

Sit in his boat and fish

Take his boat out of the water

Tow his boat away

Repeat steps 6 – 10 about 35 times throughout the day

What a sight this little kid is for everyone in the neighborhood. His boating attire alone is quite a spectacle but when you add his rigorous boating schedule to this…Jakob offers nothing but pure entertainment.
